Essay 1 â€Å"Communication is the act or process of using words, signs, or behaviors to express or exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, and feelings to someone else.† (Merriam-Webster dictionary, n.d) Communication is something that is vital to get through out life with interpersonal relationships and with family it’s crucial to communicate to avoid problems. For this essay, I was required to observe a family and discuss my findings. The family I chose to observe was an African American family who had gathered to have what was supposed to be a family reunion. The location for this event was on Tybee Island, Georgia at the beach. Upon arrival there were three sisters Sherry, Cheryl, and Barbara with their children and grandchildren. There was one sister, Sherry, who arrived and was upset about the planning of the event. The reason for this was because of lack of communication. The other two sisters, Cheryl and Barbara, who were in attendance had spoken to the Sherry, and she didn’t return a response. Sherry had taken a seat and began to communicate with her daughter and a cousin by the name of Brenda about how life was treating her. The conversation then transitioned to the topic about the planning of the event. Brenda eventually asked â€Å"What happened with the event last night Barbara?
